The lake fished very poorly after the heavy rain these last few weeks and an easterly wind during the day. The winner Mathew Dean, a Peatmoor member fished for Team Hippie who were all Peatmoor members and were drafted in at the last moment due to the withdrawal of a team. He won the match in the first hour with a solitary carp of 9lb 6oz.
Several small fish weights made up the rest of the places but some better fish did show including a tench of 1lb 14.5oz for S. Howard of Abbey Lake A, a chub of 1lb 15oz for T.Mangnall of Chippenham, a tench of 1lb 9oz for M.Gough of Turners Tackle and a perch of 1lb 2.5oz for T. Carter of Abbey Lake B.
The top 4 teams all had 4 weighers and Evesham Youth B were pleased to push their A team into third spot. Winners Newbury included a first, second and third in section.
The event will now become an annual event on May Day Bank Holiday Monday.
