Ron Wood, a 67 year old pensioner, is my father-in-law and I coaxed him into having a bash at pike fishing. I think he came along just to get away from his wife for a few hours.
I took him to the river Ancholme and he blanked the first couple of times, apart from a small jack. Then he hit the jackpot with a 21lb 8oz pike!
The method he used was float-fished deadbait, using a smelt on size 10 trebles and 10lb line.
Shortly after releasing the pike Ron couldn’t stop shaking. He suddenly realised what a monster he’d caught and he’ll never let us forget it!
