Fishing a short evening session of just one and a half hours’ duration on Birketts Hall on the Rayleigh Angling Club Ticket Alan enjoyed a terrific spell of fishing and started off catching small rudd up in the water, one a chuck, spraying scopex flavoured maggots over the top of his float.
Activity such as this usually draws a predator or two into a swim and for Alan it was the lake’s resident perch who were literally queueing up to be caught in what he described as, “ A dream short session!”
Using a small chubber float with an 8lb fluorocarbon hooklink and a size 2 Gaper hook with a prototype Nash Peg One rod Alan had bite after bite until the light faded and is pictured with fish of 1lb 6oz, 2lb 2oz, 2lb 12oz, 2lb 14oz and 3lb 2oz.
