Piking 2007

Predator fans from all over the British Isles and further afield will be joining some of the sport’s biggest names at Piking 2007 next weekend.

Saturday’s event at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, marks the 30th anniversary of the Pike Anglers Club, which was formed in 1977 to campaign to protect the pike and pike fishing.Mick Brown heads a list of speakers which also includes Jason Davis, John Watson, Eddie Turner and Colin Goodge.

Other attractions include one of the most impressive line-ups of predator tackle ever seen under one roof, with everyone from tackle giants Fox to independent lure makers.’This is going to be a day not to be missed for any predator angler – whether you’re a seasoned hand or thinking of trying what must rank as one of the most exciting forms of fishing,’ said PAC secretary Mark Barrett.

‘We know a lot of pike anglers view the convention as the start of their season and the chance to catch up with old friends.

‘We can promise the speakers will be truly inspiring and worth the admission cost alone.’

As well as everything from lures to purpose-built pike fishing boats, the convention also boasts three book launches.

PAC30, a limited edition comemorative book produced by the club will be available, along with The Return of Mega Pike, by Eddie Turner and Jason Davis; and The Pike of Broadland, by Stephen Harper.

Other specialist groups including the Anglers Conservation Association, Specialist Anglers Alliance, Catfish Conservation Group, Pike Fly Fishing Association and the Lure Anglers Society will also be running stalls.

Piking 2007 is being held at Stoneleigh Park, which is off the A46 between Coventry and Kenilworth.

Doors open at 9am for advance ticket holders, tickets will be available on the door for £ 12.50 from 9.30am, up to two accompanied juniors free. There is ample free parking at the venue and bar and catering on site.
