Poacher Baits have been making carp bait for over 13 years, sell direct to the customer and supply to numerous French carp fisheries including ‘Fish in France’ (Les Quis), ‘Paradise Lakes’, ‘Lodge Lakes’ and ‘Crystal Waters’, to mention just a few. We pride ourselves in using high quality natural ingredients including organic free-range eggs in making our range of carp boilies.
Our carp baits have been responsible for not only the capture of the largest carp in England, (two tone), but also some of the largest carp in Europe to a massive 76lb! In the French fisheries, our carp baits are responsible for catching literally hundreds of 50lb+ fish every year.
verdict
I’ve used a few of Poacher Baits boilies over the last couple of years, but there was one bait that kept throwing up big fish home and abroad that for some reason I never got around to trying – the Rum and Raspberry.
Big French carp caught on Poacher’s Rum ‘n Raspberry boilies
For those that don’t know, Poachers started the ‘eggshell revolution’ by including eggshell in their baits – something only a couple of companies can do as their baits are hand rolled, they could never go through a commercial machine.
If I remember correctly, the Rum ‘n Raspberry was a follow up to their original ‘Fruit Frenzy’, which is one of my favourite fruity fishmeals. It has a lovely fruity smell, one you can’t quite place, and even my wife likes it, so it can’t be bad! It’s also catching my dad a fair amount of bream at the moment when his conventional baits aren’t being touched – though I guess they won’t thank me for saying that!

….these two in the depths of winter
The bait has been doing the business home and away, as well as some very large summer French lumps it also works very well over here, as the two winter pics show. Who says fishmeals don’t work in winter eh?
Poachers are very good value compared with some of the brands out there. Order in bulk, and they can pretty much do any size and shape, but you normally will need to give a couple of weeks lead time – normally the length of wait is on their website. Give them a try if you fancy a change.
