It all started at the James Farrow memorial fish in at Sywell last year. We were supposed to be there to plunder the tench shoals and catch some monsters but in reality it was long sessions of silent alarms and motionless rod tips interspersed with sightings of pike in the clear water margins. Some of the pike were quite big and they obviously fired the imaginations of the FM elite who were gathered on the banks. During the barbeque some one mentioned that we should fish for the pike instead of the tench and the idea was born.
Somewhere down the line the predator social lost impetus and was forgotten about. That is until Colin and Sue suggested we hold it somewhere else and Old Bury Hill at Dorking was suggested as it had a reputation of being a runs water for predators.
