Round 9 Lakeview 26/8/01
With 5 rounds to go the league is nearing the point when matcheswill have to be dropped. Another warm day with little wind was to putthe Lakeview carp in uncooperative mood.
Very disappointing results were returned considering anglerspracticing during the week had bagged up big time! To add insult toinjury, anglers who fished on after the match found apparently “dead”swims miraculously come to life. It has to be said that the state ofthe fishery in general could best be described as neglected with manybroken pallets, pathways overgrown and trees restricting access insome swims.
At the draw a familiar face reappeared after a long absence, noneother than young Ben Field. He also informs us he will be fishing thewinter league so it’s nice to see him back in the fold. He hasobviously not lost the magic, finishing joint second with 18lb 8ozfrom peg 10. This comprised mainly carp taken close in on pole andmaggot.
League leader, Graham Curnow (Newtown Angling), notched up anothermaximum score with 24lb 12oz from peg 13 taken on similar tactics.Over on peg 27, Simon Poynter (Milo Clive’s Tackle) opted for thepole at 16m offering maggot up in the water. 3 late carp boosted histotal to 18lb 8oz for joint second. No Lakeview frame would becomplete without Pete Walker (St Columb Magic). His 16lb 12oz onlygood enough for 4th from peg 9. Next best was recorded by histeammate Dave Davies with 13lb 8oz from corner peg 17. Finally justsneaking into the top six was Dave Barnes (Clive’s Tackle) with 10lb12oz from peg 28.
The next match in 2 weeks time will be at Porth so let’s just hopethe Ranger remembers to bring the keys.
