According to Angling Times a barbel weighing 17lb 7oz has been netted from the Gt Ouse above Bedford.
Gareth Hancock was the captor and the fish was witnessed by famous trout angler Bob Church.
The fish is bigger than Ray Walton’s current record of 17lb 4oz and Guy Robb’s 17lb 6oz barbel that is yet to be verified.
The barbel was tempted with a boilie.
