Overview
Clamp will fix to a bench or table up to 1 1/2 inches thick. The sliding rod with loop retainer is fixed via a screw to give the length of hooklength required. Hook is retained in jaws by squeezing jaws and releasing onto any size of hook.
Instructions are supplied to tie spade end hooks with two different methods.

If you’ve already mastered tying hooks with the Drennan or Matchman hook tyers then the Pierotti will present no problems, for the principle of tying is more or less the same.
Sliding rod to set the length
It took me just two trial runs before I was using it quite fast, and after 10 minutes I was knocking out hooklengths in no time at all, and all within a mm or so of the same length.
Just as important (probably more important) is that the Pierotti ties very accurately, with each turn of line neatly laid along the shank and tied off just right, leaving you with a neat and secure knot as good as any you’ve seen.
Loop retaining hook
At around 30 quid the Pierotti is expensive, but I’ve spent dafter money on things that were a tenth as useful. So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.
Three questions to ask yourself:
1.Do you need one? 2.Do you want one? 3.Can you afford one?
You need one if you don’t have a lot of time to spare and you tie lots of hooklengths and especially if you float fish and you want your hooklengths all the same precise length.
You want one if you’re a tackle tart and love gadgets that make life a lot easier.
Only you know if you can justify the cost.
If 1 or 2, along with 3, apply to you then don’t hesitate, get a Pierotti Hook Tyer, it makes tying hooklengths almost a pleasure.
