FISHERS GREEN

Fishers Green regular and RMC Angling specimen Group member DrMatt Naylor has been in excellent form on the River Lee at FishersGreen in recent weeks taking a double-figure barbel and then thismagnificent brace of 5lb chub. Matt tempted the fish legering largeballs of curry flavoured paste.

With the winter months beckoning, the Fishers Green chub will bepacking on the weight and there could be some quite exceptionalfishing to be enjoyed on the venue between now and the end of theseason.

BURGHFIELD DOUBLE

A switch of venue from Fishers Green to Burghfield saw Chingfordangler and Barbel Society member Geoff Bowen take his seconddouble-figure barbel of the season from an RMC venue.

With Fishers Green closed for a junior teach-in Geoff headed forBurghfield and found the Kennet low, dirty and slow flowing.Presenting flavoured rolling meat Geoff needed just a couple of smallpieces of tungsten putty to sink the line as he allowed hiscurry-flavoured Bacon Grill to trundle through a variety of swims.

After an hour of fishing and just a few short, sharp tugs fromchub Geoff changed from an Avon rod to a quivertip to fish withincreased sensitivity. With no further tugs forthcoming Geoff allowedhis bait to settle and after a few minutes the rod slammed round andafter a short, powerful fight a barbel of 10lb 6oz was on the bank.

Following recent rain the Kennet at Burghfield is now up slightlyand is pushing through well. Further big barbel could well be on thecards in the days to come.

FRIMLEY

Bracknell angler William James proved that there is more to RMCAngling’s Frimley Complex than just big carp when he netted thissuperb tench that tipped the scales at 11lb 12oz.

William fished a home-made boilie made from Activ-8 base mix withcrushed hemp on a size 8 hook to 12lb line and struck into the tenchafter first netting three carp to 22lb.

Since the capture of William’s fish a different specimen tench of12lb has also been captured from the Frimley Complex. As well as bigtench the water has also been producing some excellent bream inrecent weeks with numerous fish well into double figures.
