Ray Clarke, holder of the British rod-caught record roach has threatened to withdraw his fish from the record list if the new crucian carp record isn’t withdrawn.
Jay Allen’s 4lb 8oz record crucian carp was accepted as a new record by the British Record Fish Committee in October this year. It is the first record to be caught during the old closed season that ran from 14th March to 16th June, and therefore the first record to be accepted by the BRFC caught during this period.
Ray Clarke made the threat to remove his roach from the record list some time ago if the BRFC accepted a closed season-caught fish.

Sorry Ray, but you can threaten to remove your fish from the list from now till when the cows come home and it won’t make a scrap of difference.
What you don’t seem to understand is that the record doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to the nation, or history if you like.
Because you don’t like something it doesn’t mean you can declare it an event that never happened.
Unless you can borrow the Tardis and nip back and not bother to fish that day you caught the record then you might as well forget it.
