Having recently announced its UK launch into the tackle trade after a long period specialising in only golf, tennis and squash equipment, Dunlop Sport – part of the Sports Direct group – has unveiled a range of biomimetic rods, made by employing the technology currently used in the racquet sports industry.
The result is a range of what the company describes as:
“Fantastic carbon rods at affordable prices utilising HM6 carbon, which is inspired by one of the most efficient structures in nature – honeycomb. The complex mass of hexagonal cells in HM6 creates an incredibly strong, lightweight structure and using new manufacturing processes we have taken high modulus carbon fibres and engineered them into a hexagonal structure; the result is improved feel and control with less weight.”
The full biomimetic range, available at sportsdirect.com, includes 7 and 9ft spinning rods, 12ft carp rods in 2.5, 2.75 and 3.5lb test curves, a 13ft waggler rod, a 12ft feeder rod and a 12ft twin-tip barbel rod. Supporting the rod range is a biomimetic range of reels for all disciplines, including rear drag match, freespool and big pit models.
As well as being sold online, Dunlop tackle will be available through Sports Direct’s 400 retail outlets and specialist high street stores.
