The pair travelled to Poole to meet with the RNLI’s Coastal Safety team who have commissioned research which has shown that deaths from sea angling are amongst the highest for all coastal leisure pursuits.
The RNLI and the Angling Trust have agreed to work together with other sporting bodies on a campaign aimed at increasing awareness of safe practices to be followed when fishing in potentially dangerous situations, such as from small boats or rock platforms.
Martin and David also met with MPs from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Angling (APPGA) to discuss issues such as the bass minimum landing size, promotion of angling tourism and water resources at a working breakfast in Stockbridge on the River Test.
