Sea angling is hugely popular – and not just with sea anglers – as increasing numbers of coarse anglers are realising that superb sport can be had on the gear they already have with species such as bass, smoothhound, wrasse, mackerel and mullet – to name just a few.

Whether you are an occasional sea angler, a hardened shore or pier fisherman or a boat angler then the good news is that top sea angler Alan Yates is joining FishingMagic to provide a new, monthly sea fishing diary.

Folkestone-based Alan has represented England on the international circuit and is a living legend in sea angling circles. He can draw on a massive font of knowledge from sea match fishing, to boat, shore, surf and rock work and his knowledge of tactics is second to none. He’s also a pretty handy coarse angler too and at the time of writing he’s carp fishing on the continent!

Above all Alan is tuned in to what is happening around the coast and his advice on what to fish for, when, where and how is likely to prove totally invaluable to any FM browser with an interest in sea fishing and I have a feeling his common sense, practical approach could have quite a few of us heading seawards for the first time.
