Six 30’s from Bury HillFollowing Max Wells capture of a 36lb 8oz mirror last week, Temple and the Old Lake have thrown up a further 6 thirties in the days following which includes 4 fish from Temple and 2 from the Old Lake.Max aged just 14 went on to catch a second thirty during his session, another big mirror which tipped the scales at 30lb 1oz. Max’s second thirty came to the same tactics as his 36lb 8oz fish and was caught on an 18mm Winter Peach Perfection Ground Bait boilie which he fished in the deep channel just short of the island. Fishing with Max was Spencer Gymer who has also bagged 4 fish to 29lb. Dan Hughes was the next angler to come up trumps, fishing swim 11, Dan managed just one fish during his overnight session, a cracking 33lb 6oz mirror which fell to a Fusion boilie fished tight to the island margins. Next in the queue was junior bailiff Ed Mason who also struck lucky when he grabbed a quick night last Saturday catching a 32lb Linear. A very good angler for his years, Ed fished a Richworth Pineapple and Hawaiian boilie to the deep water channel tight to the island off swim 13. Next in the frame on Temple fishing his first session of the year was Clayton Baker who caught a stunning common weighing 31lb 6oz within 4 hours of starting his weekend session today. Clayton fished a Mainline 18mm Pineapple boilie just short of the point of the island to bag a new PB and the 13th thirty of the year. Whilst most of the action for big fish has been on Temple in recent weeks, the Old Lake is also firing up as Simon Jones found out last Friday night when he caught a 31lb common together with two twenties and three doubles. Fishing peg 22, Simon fished a 15mm Cranberry boilie towards the island. Hugh Bonsor was the other lucky angler to bag a new PB from the Old Lake, a cracking 33lb common which I personally witnessed. Fishing swim 47, Hugh fished a Carp Company Icelandic Red 18mm boilie to the back of the pads on a light leger rig catching his fish around 7pm last evening. The fish was in mint condition and has previously been caught at just over thirty pounds. These catches bring the total number of thirties caught this year to 17 which is a new record for the fishery, 4 from the Old Lake and 13 from Temple. |
