Probably the most anticipated carp book in years is this new book from Terry Hearn. I had an inkling that I was getting it for Christmas, so at 3am I beat the kids down to see if I had it…and there it was!

I don’t think Terry needs much introduction, his list of big carp is an impressive one, and when the likes of Rod Hutchinson say he’s an inspiration, well……

Still Searching carries on from where In Pursuit left off, but the stories are listed chronologically so there’s a fair bit of backwards and forwards between lakes (and 40’s!) – but I quite like that as it shows how much effort goes into producing the sort of results he’s had.

Don’t expect chapters on rigs or bait, it’s just an account of his fishing on some of the country’s hardest lakes – not all of them ‘circuit’ waters, for some of the most sought after ‘English’ fish.

The guest chapters are also excellent. There is also a chapter showing some of his other fishing – primarily perch, roach and dace, and all to enviable sizes. The scariest thing when you tot up his catches is that it doesn’t include what he’s caught in the last two years!

Only available to order from www.terryhearn.com, although his mum does sell them at the same price on E-Bay to stop the ‘speculators’ – people have been paying well over the odds on there.

Dave Rothery’s Verdict

At £ 34.95 inc P&P it’s not a cheap book, but there’s 488 pages and 390 colour pictures and it weighs at least twice as much as most of the other books out there!
