Now in its sixth campaign with a voting register of over 4000 subscribers www.anglerssay.com is providing ANGLERS nationwide the opportunity to have their say on the major issues affecting our sport. The current debate on the suitability of barbel as legitimate stock for, in the main, commercial fisheries, rumbles on. The massive forum discussions tend, as always, to create ‘more heat than light’, remarked Roy Marlow of the award winning Glebe Fishery. To help bring a conclusion to the varied opinions on ‘The Stillwater Barbel Question’ we have teamed up with Graham Marsden, the venerable Editor of the popular FISHINGmagic.com to ask all anglers to stand up and be counted on our new poll question: ‘Should the Environment Agency review their guidelines that allow barbel to be stocked in stillwaters?’ “I have long been a fan of FISHINGmagic.com,” says Anglers Say founder Bob Clark, who added, “viewers will see from our member’s homepage that our leaders are slowly recognising that if they seek to truly represent us they must spend less time talking to each other and more time reading and, importantly, acting upon the views of anglers expressed both on the forums and in the press.” The Anglers Say team are delighted to welcome Graham Marsden to comment on our polls alongside Angling Times’ columnist Keith Arthur, who also presents Tight Lines on Sky TV and Fisherman’s Blues on Talk Sport Radio, Roy Marlow of the award winning Glebe Fishery, John Wright, controversial angling journalist and Martin Salter MP, who is the Government’s spokesman on angling and works closely alongside Sports Minister Richard Caborn MP. Martin confirmed he was 100 per cent behind the new site. “It’s really important that anglers engage in helping us develop a firm picture of what they want and expect from the sport and its leaders. As a result I’m right behind the launch of this new site, which all anglers should welcome.” Says Martin. “I am delighted for FISHINGmagic to have this opportunity to ask all anglers to have their say on this important and emotive issue,” says Graham Marsden. “It is important that those who govern or influence our fishing should be presented with the full weight of angler’s views. I am also pleased that I have been invited to comment on the Anglers Say polls.” He added. The new Anglers Say poll on the Stillwater Barbel Question is live from Thursday 8th July 2004. All you need to do is register and cast your vote. |
