Sunday 28th November sees the fourth Marie Curie Predator Cup taking place on the River Great Ouse. Last year was perfect angling conditions, with the winning trophy going to Jack Satchell with this total winning weight of 24lb 7oz.
The Marie Curie Predator Cup has been held for the past four years on the River Great Ouse between Ely and Littleport, a stretch of water that has seen specimen and is famous for its Pike and Zander.
Nicky Jackson, fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care said, “This is a fantastic angling challenge attracting anglers from all over the country. Everyone always has a good day even if they are not lucky enough to catch a Pike or Zander. We are extremely grateful to the Ely Sugar Beet Sports and Social Club who very kindly donate the water and their club house and the Pike Anglers of Great Britain who provide experienced Marshalls.”
The one day tournament is a premier predator challenge targeting pike and zander and attracts anglers from all over the country. There are trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd as well as Best Pike and Best Zander. The event is run in association with the Pike Angler’s Club of Great Britain.
By taking part in the Marie Curie Predator Cup anglers are supporting the vital work of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Marie Curie Nurses care for seriously-ill patients in their homes and provide emotional support for their families. Their presence gives terminally-ill people the choice of dying at home, when they might otherwise have gone into a hospital or hospice.
Marie Curie Nurses work a full eight or nine hour shift, giving the patient’s regular carers the chance to take a break from caring to rest, go shopping or get some sleep at what can be a very tough time.
Pegs cost £ 15.00 and are limited, so please book early to secure your place. If you would like to take part please send a SAE enclosing a cheque/postal order made payable to Marie Curie Cancer Care to Nicky Jackson, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Unit U, The Paddocks, 347 Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 8DH.
