More 30’s from Temple Lake Having set his heart on catching Temple’s much sort after Linear, Chris Felton from Leatherhead, Surrey was finally rewarded for his hours of effort when he landed the beautiful linear at 6.30am Wednesday morning at 30lb 6oz. Fishing peg 10, Chris fished a Nash Fishmeal boilie out to the point of the island placing his single hook bait, which he fished in conjunction with a 2.5oz BDS inline lead and PVA bag filled with bloodworm pellet onto a 5ft deep shelf which runs off the left hand side point of the island. Following a strong fight lasting 15 minutes, which saw the fish make three powerful runs up the lake, Chris finally netted his dream fish which was witnessed and photographed by fishery owner David de Vere. Stocked from the King George at 34lb 3oz last August, this special fish has been very inactive during the winter months and was not caught for 8 months. However this beautiful long lean fish has now been caught three times since March and is in perfect condition as the photographs show. The Old lake also continued its run of 30’s with two more being reported last weekend, bringing the total number of 30’s caught since January to 8, which is a lake record. Rhys Bradstock from Ewell, Surrey led the field catching a superb 31lb 8oz mirror from peg 74 giving him a new PB. Fishing 20mts out past the pads into open water, Rhys fished a single Crab & Squid boilie over a bed of hemp and carp pellets to attract the big mirror. Andy Clune from Wallington, Surrey also struck lucky when he landed a very plump 30lb 4oz mirror, which he caught from peg 66. Andy fished a 15mm strawberry boilie with a PVA bag filled with PVA and broken boilies fished close to the island. On amazing form, the Old lake has now produced five thirties and close to 50 twenties, many upper twenties, in the past three weeks alone! |
