Rumours have been flying round the notorious grapevine all week as tiny titbits of information surfaced about the capture of a new tench record at 15lb.
Four snippets of information that emerged were spot on.
- The fish does indeed weigh 15lb.
- It was caught by an angler fishing for carp.
- It was caught in the Middlesex area
- By an angler named Darren.
Now we know the truth, for it’s there in all its glory in thisweek’s Angling Times.
The fish was caught by Darren Ward from a southern stillwater andfell to a 14mm pop-up boilie aimed at carp.
Another rumour was that the fish was an ugly, bloatedspecimen.
That wasn’t true. It’s not a bad looking fish, having a biggerframe and better proportions than the present record of 14lb 7ozcaught by Gordon Beavan.
Take a look at the pictures and read the full story in today’s AT.I think you’ll agree that, although it is obviously in spawn, it’snot a bad looking fish at all.
