KEVIN PERKINS


Kevin Perkins is one of those anglers who sees the funny side of everything, and there are plenty of funny goings-on in fishing. But not everybody is able to convey the funny and often quirky nature of fishing. But Kevin can. He’s the Alternative Angler who sees that side of things that most of us miss because we’re too busy going about the serious business of catching fish and often missing the satire and laughs along the way.

Never mind smelling the flowers, don’t forget to take time out to see the satirical side of fishing life and grab a laugh along the way as well. So here’s a regular column from Kevin Perkins to remind us that life is for laughing at, or taking the p*** out of, whenever we can.

CLATTERCOTE, AN ALTERNATIVE VIEW

First my thanks go out to Mike for organising the match, (next year, could it be January (when it’ll probably be warmer) and shame about the wind, some meteorological, some alimentary!) and on a personal note it was great to have a chance to put faces to FM names. A particular ‘well done’ to Wendy for putting up with all that banter, and for the excellent weight she put together. (Crawling over, the character assassination comes later!) Anyway, on with my view of events….


In fact, now I look at the picture, you can just make out Tesco’s in the distance, through the crowd of anglers (!!!!) that I had to chat to through the match. Is it my after-shave or something?
We met up at Tesco’s, where I came upon a collection of hearty men eating stout breakfasts (or was it stout men eating hearty breakfasts?) The delightful Wendy Perrynoid, bless her, appeared to be struck with fear at my presence. She was terrified of doing or saying anything that I would take the wrong way and write it up in an article (as if I would!).

Having then made it apparent that she was in mortal fear of doing anything untoward, some of her actions seemed at odds with that statement…
