HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

EAST LANE BAWDSLEY

Current Form
Plenty of whiting as you would expect now, soon hopefully somecodling, and the last of the soles and the odd big bass.

Bait
For general fishing use lug, rag and mackerel, for the chance of theodd big bass use live pouting.

Tackle and Tactics
Standard beach casting tackle is needed but make sure that the lineis good quality and new as the chance of a good bass should not bewasted with rubbish line. If targeting the last of the soles use size2 hooks or if fishing for whiting use size 1/0 both on a two hookpaternoster rig. For the big bass a pouting on a 4/0 or 5/0 hook a ona legered pennel rig right under the rod at high water and the firstof the ebb will give you the best chance.

Location
Follow the A12, north of Ipswich take the Bawdsley, Orford, Meltonturn off, follow the road to Bawdsley sign post on the left, justbefore Bawdsley that says East Lane and fish to the left of theMartello Tower.

RESULTS

SOUTH OF THE THAMES ROUND UP

The north Kent coast continues to provide whiting sport from mostmarks, however the Sheppy coast line also fishing for whiting but theQueenborough area is still slow with only a few whiting turned up asyet. Deal pier continues to fish well for whiting with a few codlingup to 6lb. Most marks from around the Folkestone and Seabrook marksare fishing well for whiting, not many codling reported as yet, ortoo many pouting, but a few dabs and still a good chance of some goodsized bass. Samphire Hoe will give you a better chance of that alongwith some codling, whiting, pouting and even a chance of a triggerfish or two. Basically for the next few weeks it proberly doesn’tmatter where you fish you should have good success with plenty ofwhiting. It just remains to be seen whether or not the codling turnup in any numbers.
