A year after the fishing world mourned the Leicester match angling legend’s passing a new book has been published celebrating the amazing angler that was Ivan Marks. ‘The Complete Angler’ is 1974 National Champion and former England International Percy Anderson’s unique take on Ivan, who became one of his closest friends during their match fishing heyday and remained so until his death. The book is packed with stories, anecdotes, facts, figures, plus reams of photographs – some previously unpublished – and all proceeds will go to Papworth Hospital where Ivan received a life-saving heart transplant in 1993. “This started out as a two-page tribute that I presented to Ivan’s wife, Linda, at his funeral last year. But I wanted to do something more, something longer lasting, for the anglers who know and loved Ivan and for future generations. Others had already set up memorial matches so I chose a book,” said Anderson, 75. “It was very difficult to write about the great little man of angling. To do so comprehensively would have taken far too long. But I’m happy with what we’ve produced and I hope people buy it, enjoy it, and know they are supporting a good cause too.”
