There is just over a week to go before 260 competitors from five continents and 29 countries arrive at Lac de Madine in North West France for the 2010 World Carp Classic. The excitement continues to build towards its usual amazing crescendo. For many anglers the WCC is seen as much more than a competition, even if it does happen to be the biggest around. “I am very proud to say that many of the world’s top carp anglers view the event as a social gathering not to be missed, and it sits with pride of place on the calendars of some of the most respected and accomplished carp anglers the world has to offer.
It is not without the considerable effort and support from a fantastic Team that the event has reached its lofty status, and it stands testament to them all that it has. I am extremely proud of my team as, each year, the seamlessness and smooth running of the event is only made possible with their hard work and dedication. “Said Ross Honey Tournament Founder”
Likewise, the enormous support from the event partners and sponsors is vitally important and fully appreciated, both by the organisers and competitors alike. The faith and goodwill that JRC, as Title Sponsors have displayed over the past five years, and again this year, has been invaluable to the competition. JRC’s fantastic support has allowed the competition to build momentum to become what it is today, a truly global event. JRC have agreed an extension to their support as Title Sponsor for a further three years, taking it up to and including 2013.
This year, new elements are being introduced to the competition. As responsible event organisers organisers, all safety aspects are fully monitored including best practice catch and release, and fish care. There is no place in this event for those who cannot adhere strictly to this ethos, as any violators of these rules and guidelines will quickly discover. The Organisers fully endorse the concept of ‘leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photo’s’, with a strong stance on respect for the environment will be more evident this year as the event goes green in rubbish collection and disposal. Bottled beer is now totally banned from the competition altogether, as this glass is particularly light and brittle.
