GAUNTS LAKE – GUY LAKES COMPLEX
New member, Richard Burrows, from Cowes, I.O.W on his first visitto the water, took two fish over thirty pounds at 31lb and 32lb.
Richard had never caught an English ’30’ and now on his firstvisit to Linear he has taken two. We will have a full report onRichard’s visit later in the week.
Gaunts has already produced a number of ’30’s’ this year and itwill be interesting to find out how many different fish have so farbeen caught. Since introducing the stock fish to Gaunt’s Lake inearly 1999 the originals have been triggered into feeding and arepiling on the pounds. The stock fish are also being caught at between10 and 15lbs which means that some have put on over 10lbs in just ayear!
ST JOHNS LAKE
Reported by Mike White & Phil Samity who fished the water fora few days up to 30th April – 19 carp between them which included sixlow twenties to 23.06 and a 22lb ghost carp. The pair fished boiliesalong with trout pellets in PVA bags to catch the fish at 30 yardsrange.
Matt Marlow from Manchester paid his first visit to the water thisweek and was wise enough to take advice from Linear’s bailiff RoyParsons on where to fish – the result: 22.08, 20.08 mirror carp and a16lb common. Matt fished boilies and PVA bags filled with troutpellets.
Pete Jameson also found the fish with six doubles and two twentiesat 23.06 and 20.06.
Nigel Murphy’s 45lb scales bottomed out when he tried to weigh acatfish that picked up his fruit flavoured boilie.
HARDWICK LAKE
Nick Bull from Salisbury is back and amongst the carp again. Hisbest fish a fully scaled mirror weighed 26.09 and along with this hecaught a 22lb common and eight doubles to 19.14.
GUY LAKES
Richard French has been enjoying some successes on YeomansLake this week with two twenties and a double and Jamie Gordonfrom Maidstone has taken a 26.05 mirror from Gaunts Lake.
HUNTS CORNER POND
Fish becoming very active as the weather warms – Bags of up to 30carp reported on the pole using luncheon meat on the hook and feedingtrout pellet.
MONDAY, 30THAPRIL
The weather conditions and cold rainwater running into the lakesdid slow sport down during the week but odd carp were beingcaught.

Gaunts and Unity Lakes have been producing a few carp butYeomans is slow.
Robert Bull caught a 30lb persoal best mirror carp fromGaunts and Andy Davies took a mirror of 26.15 and a common of21lb. Other fish to 23lb were reported.
Yeomans Lake is producing fish to mid-twenties.
