ST JOHNS
Sheffield angler Jack Lambert fished particles over pellet to catch a common of 23.11 and mirrors of 24.08, 14lb & 10lb.
Dan Patrick from Worcester found the carp in the shallows and caught mirrors of 26.04, 24.07, 20.13, commons of 24.14, 22.06 and six doubles. Dan fished with Scopex Squid Boilies.
Also on the shallows was Simon Atkins from North Wales who fished with home made boilies to catch a mirror of 25.02 and a common of 19.10.
Paul Wakeman from Cardiff fished pop-ups along with pellets in PVA bags to catch a 22lb common and two mirrors of 21lb & 18lb.
Brian Charles from Cumbria fished particles to catch a common of 23lb and a mirror of 20.08. Also from Cumbria is Martin Tebay who caught a 24.04 common using the same method.
A 24.10 fully scaled mirror has been caught by Chris Dane from Hertfordshire.
An angler calling himself ‘Notebook’ from Daventry has caught a 22lb mirror. Steve Smith from The Rhonda Valley is on the water for a session with his fishing mate Mark Lewis. Steve has caught a very pretty linear mirror of 29.02 which is a PB for him. Mark has caught mirrors of 23lb 20lb and 18.14. Both are fishing sweetcorn over pellet.
Tony Drew from Bristol who is fishing for carp with pellet hookbait has caught a 14.06 bream, a 21.06 mirror and two commons of 18.12 and 14.08.
Hatfields, Paul Ryder has caught a PB mirror carp of 25.08 along with a smaller fish of 16.04. Soaked dog buscuit was the successful bait.
Brothers Dave and Gavin Bullock from Hertfordshire both fished tigers to catch three commons between them. Dave caught fish of 26.09 and 14lb and Gavins fish weighed 23.04.
Paul Dennis from Wisbeach, Cambs has caught commons of 33.10, 25lb and 22lb, along with a mirror of 26.08. His son Andrew has caught mirrors of 24lb and 22lb. Both fished with ! Tails Up Liver Boilies.
Mike Ike All the way from Devon also caught a thirty in the shape of a mirror carp of 32lb. This was a PB for Mike who fished with Nutrabaits boilies and is a very happy man. Kevin Hewitt from Bristol fished corn off the bottom to catch mirrors of 23.12, 20.08 and six doubles.
Fishing with Richworth Halibut Pellets, Andy Lees from Wolverhampton has caught a mirror of 29.08 and four doubles to 19.10.
Chris Edwards previous best carp was a 16.12 until he paid his first visit to St. Johns. Fishing with home made boilies Chris, from Chippenham, has caught mirrors of 23.12, 18.04, 26.12, 20.04, along with two commons of 26.12 and 17.08. Well done Chris!
Simon Turner from Chippenham fished particles to catch a 24.02 and four doubles.Also with another 24 is Ken Jefferies whose mirror carp weighed 24.12. Ken also caught two other mirrors of 17lb and 22.04. these three fish were caught on Mike Wilmott cream boilies.
Cardiff’s Anthony Barker fished tiger nuts to catch a mirror of 25.04.
Patrick Quinn from Leicester fished with 20ml Source Boilies to catch a superb common carp of 31.10.
Chris Morley from Burnham-on-Sea caught a 24.12 mirror carp on a Devon Cream Pop-Up.
Simon Turner has added to the carp previously reported – Fishing the shallows with particle hook baits over pellet, Simon has caught a further 26.04 and a 21.08 mirror carp plus another five mid-doubles.
Fishing with Activ-8 boilies, Brendon Long from Essex has caught a 29.06 common.Also from Essex is Mathew Lee who has caught a 22lb mirror on Activ-8 boilies.
Leighton Buzzards, Steve Henry fished with Elite Boilies to catch mirrors of 24.05, 20.15, 25.12, a 21lb common and a fully scaled mirror of 19.06. With Steve was his fishing mate Chris Dene, also on Elite Boilies, who caught a common of 21.15 and a 13lb mirror.
Kevin Hewitt whose personal previous best carp was 25.08, beat this in great style with two mirrors of 31lb and 26.10. Kevin fished with popped up sweetcorn.
HARDWICK LAKE
Jon Finch is on the water and has caught six doubles and three mirrors over 20lb. The best of these weighed 25.02.
Jon Finch, continuing the session we reported last Friday, has caught another 13 carp. This makes Jon’s total (so far) for the session 22 fish. The best of these latest fish included commons of 23.02, 21lb, 26lb, 22lb, mirrors of 28.10, 25lb and 22lb. Jon was very upset to loose a very good fish that he described as a lump.
Mark Hooper from Bristol used Source Boilies to catch two mirrors of 21.05 and 19.05.
Harrow’s Kirk Raper caught the fish he was after ‘The Big Common’. Although down a bit in weight from last year this splendid fish weighed 34.10. Kirk said that there were a number of leaches on the fish and that he believes it had only just started feeding properly after the winter. The successful method was particles fished over pellets and hemp.
Mark Roberts, from Birkenhead, fished maize over pellet to catch three linear mirrors of 16.02, 19.04, 20.10, a mirror of 26lb and a common of 19.08.
Frank Warwick was on the water to do a magazine feature and although he lost ‘the big common’ at the net he caught two mirrors of 32lb and 31.09 WHAT A TRIO THAT COULD HAVE MADE!!! Frank’s feature was on method feeding and he also caught two bream of 10.08 and 11.08.
Roger Seaton, fishing near Frank, managed mirrors of 26.14 and 22.10 plus a 14lb common.
We are told that Cardiff’s Steve Whitfield danced a Celtic Jig when he landed a 27.08 linear mirror – this fish was caught on particles.
Bryan Jarrett from Hinders of Swindon fished on the surface to catch a mirror of 32lb and a 22lb common.
A fully scaled mirror of 36.04 has been caught by Philip Markley from Birmingham. Phillip caught the big mirror on Trigger Pellet.
An angler known as ‘Plug’ caught a mirror of 24.12 and a mid-double on M8 boilies.
A mirror weighing 32.02 was caught by a Mr Kemp who fished with particle baits.
MANOR FARM LAKE
Although it wasn’t has big as the personal best Matthew Goodwin was just as pleased with the second fish of his first visit to the water – a 26.02 mirror.
Terry Hearn managed a 19lb mirror and has managed to catch some off the top.
A 31.11 mirror has been reported caught by Lee Collins.
Jamie Stewart from Derby, fishing with Mainline Active Maple boilies has caught a mirror of 29.12.
Lee Collins fished Mainline 8 to catch a mirror of 30.09.
Sean Hodges from Hinders Tackle fished boilie to catch a mirror of 33.08.
YEOMANS LAKE
Jez Heslop has caught an 18.06 mirror. Craig Stevens a 26lb common. Phil Stimpson a mirror of 29.12 and Mac the bailiff is more than pleased with his catch of two mirrors at 31.04 and 22.06 and added another mirror of 27.12 to his catch. and Steve Spur caught a PB mirror of 22.12. . Mac’s fish were caught on Richworth Bio-Plex fished at 50 yards.
Phil Stimpson added to the 29.12 mirror caught on Saturday with three more mirrors of 24.12, 22.14 & 23.12.
UNITY LAKE
We have heard that the water, like the other two on the site, is fishing well and a number of carp have been reported, these include ghost carp to 24lbs. Nick Bull caught five fish to 24lb and Ivor Peachy caught an 18lb mirror.
Bailiff John Warr caught a common of 21lb and a mirror of 25lb. Two members guests were on the water at the weekend and one caught a common of 30.04 and the other a mirror of 30lb.
GAUNTS LAKE
Pete Knie caught a mirror of 29.08 and the famous Jimmy Evans caught 8 carp to 28lbs.
Guy Lakes member, Danny, has caught a 38.01 mirror. This is the same heavily scaled fish that was caught by Mac last year at 32lb.
HUNTS CORNER LAKE
Stefan Bal from Bedfordshire found the fish in close and winkled out two commons of 29 & 24lb. Stef fished with Heathrow Bait Services Pineapple pop-ups. Clive Turner of Didcot Angling managed three mirrors to low twenties.
Hunts has been fishing well over the last few days. Stefan Bal paid the water a one day visit and caught a common over 24lb and a mirror over 21lb. The common was caught in the margins using Heathrow Bait Services Pineapple pop-ups, as was the mirror which Stef cast to after it rolled at about 30 yards – the take was immediate!
Also catching from the margins was Joe Wright from Crafty Carper Magazine who caught a 21+ mirror just off the marginal shelf.
Bailiff, Colin Hambridge, was pleased when the mirror he caught tipped the scales at 33.10. Colin also managed another mirror of over 22lb on the same day by fishing a gravel area nearly half way across the lake – the thirty was caught on a Richworth pop-up mix rolled on the bank by Ron Buss (bless him) and the second fish was caught on a Heathrow Bait Services pineapple pop-up.
Clive Williams returned to catch a nice mirror over 25lb and one of the members reported a 30.12 mirror.
OXLEASE LAKE
A Frank Warwick Fluoro pop-up did the trick for young Darren Walker from Kent, by producing a personal best mirror carp of 23.04.
Rob Wyatt and his mate Matthew Lane, Both from Enfield, found the fish on the wind. Rob caught mirrors of 23 and 18lb along with a stocky of 8lb. Matthew caught a mirror of 20.06 and a 5.08 tench. Both fished with Fluoro pop-ups.
Newbury’s Justin Gomer fished boilies to catch mirrors of 22.08, 19.06 and 18.09 and Jamie MacFarland fished with Richworth Multi-Plex to catch mirrors of 18.04, 19.02 and 20.08.
Paul Barber from Worcester fished with Richworth Pineapple pop-ups to catch a mirror carp of 20.05.
One bank of the lake will be closed for a charity match on the 14th/15th (Saturday & Sunday) of June this year. This event will take place From approx 11am on the Saturday and finish at approx 1.00pm on the Sunday.
The Charity is in aid of SANDS which stands for Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society which helps people come to terms with the loss of a child in or after birth.
PLEASE NOTE: Only one bank of the lake will be closed and visitors not taking part in this event may fish all of the track side of the lake.
