Let Darren tell the story

The pictures were taken on Lake Dans Bas in Church Point, Digby County, Nova Scotia in Canada using a Nikon D70 with 18-70mm lens.

Too big to go down the hatch?

My wife and I were there visiting relatives. I am not a fisherman, I had just bought the camera and had been taking pictures of everything that moved.

I got up one morning and walked down to the lake from the cabin and my eye was caught by some splashing out on the lake. I thought at first that it was a dying fish, but the shape was wrong. As I got closer I could see that it was two pike. I took some pictures from the wharf, then paddled a boat out to get a closer look.

I took a few more photos, then separated the pike. The larger of the two pike (the eater) swam away but the smaller was in shock, but after a few moments it too swam away unharmed.

The smaller pike was approx 16 inches long and the larger about half the size again.
