From a week’s fishing on the Ponoi in July to “money can’t buy” fishing on private beats; from a copy of “A River Runs Through It” signed by Brad Pitt to original works of art; the annual Salmon & Trout Association (S&TA) auction, its major fund-raising event, is now open for commission bidding on line – and what a selection of lots it offers!
The 37 lots are aimed to entice anglers, it is true, but within that remit there is plenty to placate the significant others in the family – such as, for example, a lunch party for six hosted by celebrity chef Prue Leith at her Cotswold home, or an overnight stay at Limewood House Hotel, recently listed in the Daily Telegraph among its choice of best country house hotels.
And anglers are truly spoilt for choice, with an unrivalled selection of fishing breaks to fly boxes, tuition to a year’s membership of the Salisbury District Angling club, and much, much more.
Paul Knight, S&TA CEO, declares, “The response from our members and supporters in donating these lots this year has been tremendous – it is truly our best auction to date. The event is extremely important for the Association as it is our single major fund-raiser. While the actual auction will be held during our Annual Dinner on 6th October, by opening an online commission bidding facility now, anyone who would like to participate can do so – and stands as good a chance of securing a coveted lot as those attending the auction itself.”
