Price: £ 7.99 As a recent returnee to sea fishing I couldn’t believe how much useful information the team at Sea Angler magazine have crammed into this book. It covers building around 20 of the most popular shore and boat rigs for targeting all the main species found around our shores, as well as how to collect and use 10 different baits. Each rig is covered from the raw components to the finished article, through a sequence of easy-to-follow pictures. The text cuts through the jargon, giving concise instruction and a host of tips. You can use it like a cookery book – most of the recipes are contained on a page or two, so you can refer to them as you try them out without needing a third hand to turn the pages while you fiddle with knots, crimps, impact shields etc. The bait digging section contains everything you need to know to collect, prepare and mount baits for maximum attractiveness. You can order it from the mag for £ 7.99 while stocks last. First published in 1998, the book is already on its third reprint. I know it’s going to help me get to grips with the beach faster. As a suggestion a similar guide to casting would be a boon to cack-handed pikers like me. | ||
