Twenty six anglers took part in the fourth annual match at Pitsford Reservoir in memory of the founder of England Youth Flyfishing, Tom Bilson.

With an even mix of adults and youths for what is a very friendly match each adult was paired in a boat with a youth angler and the match was fished to fishery rules with only two exceptions: no anchoring and fishing from the front of drifting boats only.

The weather was kind with a light wind and everyone came back to the lodge for a BBQ lunch and a chat about the morning’s tactics. All anglers caught fish with the flies of the day varying between minkies, cat whisker boobies and humungus’s.

The overall top rod was Ryan Worker who caught eight fish for a total weight of 21lb 13oz, closely followed by Simon Lehane who had eight fish for 21lb 12oz. The top youth was Kieran Bonas catching seven fish for 20lb 15oz. The biggest fish of the day was a rainbow weighing 5lb 8oz 8dr caught by Gary How.
