Stumpy and myself, Kevan, fished a 48 hour session on Yateley South Lake, and what a session it was.
We turned up on the lake at 9.30am Tuesday, 17th May, and fished through to Thursday at 10am. In this short period we captured 22, yes 22 carp and two tench. The killer baits were ‘Protovit Shellfish’.
We settled in pegs 6 and 7 as we had fished these before with moderate success, but hey, we did not expect this. The reports were that nothing had been out since the previous Sunday and indeed the others on the lake blanked but not us. Wow!!!!!
The biggest weighed in at a respectable 19lb 10oz and the smallest and only one under double figures at 9lb 12oz. To be honest I was pleased to get home for some well earned rest, as most of them came in the early hours In fact 13 on the Wed/Thurs night/morning.
We fished our killer baits over pigeon mix and about a kilo of freebies, size 4 barbless hooks, knotless knotted with 12lb braid, of approx 8″ length, to a 3oz Fox lead, attached to 15lb ESP main line. If you find yourself there, enjoy and tight lines.
