Once again I feel that we women anglers are under-represented. Everywhere I look there is ‘he did that, he caught this’ but where is the ‘she’ in all this?

When me and my man go fishing I find I become invisible. Do most males feel threatened by women anglers? My man certainly does not, he just threatens to throw me in with the fish, but aside from this he usually takes me beating his angling achievements with (nearly) good humour. Just kidding, he is a very good angler and shows me up regularly…mostly by mooning on the river bank!!!

So far on this web site I have found only one female. I know the web has only been going for a few years and that many people are still living in the dark ages, but the wheel has been invented and it really is round so we should use it to tell the world that females can hold rods or poles and catch fish too. I wrote to the Angling Times, had a letter printed and got a good response, but only one woman replied to me, WHY?

Men, stop using fishing as a way of running away. We could all do with a change away from the kids and housework. And women, make sure you shout about your angling achievements. I think it’s time we told ’em just how good we are.
