New Holland Say
Ireland has been described as ‘an angler’s Paradise’, with beautiful landscapes, breathtaking coastlines and stunning waterways. It’s little wonder, then, that it thrives as a destination for anglers.

One of the most important pieces of information for any angler when embarking on an expedition is finding out where the prime fishing locations are. In John Baileys new book ‘Where to Fish in Ireland’, this internationally renowned author, photographer and fisherman divulges some of the best fishing spots this country has to offer for fly, coarse and sea fishermen.

This book covers over 30 fishing spots, personally visited, vetted and fished by either John or one of his most trusted friends and colleagues. Organised by region, these guides clearly detail vital information on peak seasons, site details (including directions), regulations and ticket prices.

Packed with tips for every fisherman and advice on fishing in the individual locations, it’s like having an expert with you. Whether you throw it in your glove compartment, or store it in your tackle box, this practical guide will help you find a great fishing spot wherever you are in Ireland.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

A decent price but this is reflected in the fact that the book covers only 30 waters out of the hundreds of excellent waters that Ireland offers.

John goes into detail about the 30 waters that the book covers, but this leaves a hell of a lot of waters it doesn’t even mention.

To cover coarse, sea and game fishing in just 60 pages is asking far too much. Far better if this book had been three books, each dealing separately with the three disciplines.
