Carp Challenge

Though I have caught thousands of carp, my best is just 12-6. Angling artist John Searl offered to help me try and beat this modest personal best by taking me stalking on a private lake that contains many fish in excess of this weight. The real purpose of the trip was for me to gain an understanding of John’s approach to angling. Virtually all of my angling has been fishing ‘blind’. I may have a good idea what is in the swim but I have rarely tried to actually select the individual fish that I’m trying to catch. John prefers the opposite approach, and will even encourage unwanted fish other than his target fish to drop the bait, as I was to find out later.
