The Biggest Carp Angling Event in the WorldThe World Carp Classic this year has really caught the imagination of the entire Carp Angling world. At the Carp and Course show in Wembley we were delighted to announce the sponsors supporting and endorsing this year’s event on the Mighty Orient. Title sponsorship this year was proudly secured by JRC and Loek van Kersbergen was on hand to assist in the official announcement. When asked what were the key objectives they were looking for WCC to achieve for JRC? Loek replied: “To create a solid foundation for JRC in France, for PTE as the exclusive distributors in France and further spreading JRC’s reputation for high quality products at fair prices. We will set up a complete line of merchandising, use the platform to launch the JRC No1 Baitline and will use the WCC to enlarge our networks”. Loek further commented “JRC is very pleased to be involved as the title sponsor of the WCC. The quality of the event and the impact of it fit very well into the JRC philosophy: Professional, Eye for details, Open to the public aiming to be No1”. Off to the cat Races SuperCat, the official bait boat sponsors will be hosting the bait boat challenge at the event. This will see anglers compete in a relay format steering the SuperCats through a course on the lake dropping bait in the drop zone and speeding back to the start line. This will demonstrate not only how easy is to use the boats, but also the load they can carry. 5 boats at a time will line up for the relay with a prize for the fastest time recorded, boats hand built by anglers for anglers. Over the years SuperCat has built various bait boats in the quest for perfection… we feel we have finally made the boat anglers have been waiting for! – a boat that can cope with any water and any weather. The SuperCat is larger than the average bait boat on the market today. It has been built this way for various reasons. SuperCat wanted a boat that could cope with extreme conditions and also be safe in the knowledge that the bait and rig would be deposited exactly where we wanted it. Fully loaded with 6kg of wet particle, the bait doors are 2 inches clear of the water. This means no particles or flavorings are lost on the way to its destination. The SuperCat has a range of up to 600 yards and although it’s larger than most bait boats it’s maneuverability is unrivaled and its power is at a push of a lever. The team event hots up Out of the 200+ anglers that have already entered, the event many have also enter the team competition. The team event will be a major contest of its own as product and skills will be put to the test. It will be a great accolade to win with this highly prized crown and be certain to gain both massive commercial and bragging benefits. Some of the teams already entered include:
Carp Connections are co-sponsoring the team prize this year, Hans Sissing Managing Director said “the team event this year could produce some real surprises it will be very interesting to see what weight wins. Currently I hold the WCC record for the biggest fish at just under 50lbs but I have a feeling that not only will my record be broken so will the weight for the team prize”. Golden Priceless Prizes Unique golden Scales from Reuben Heaton form part of this year’s amazing £ 50,000 prize table. These scales are priceless as the only winners of the World Carp Classic are entitled to have them. Reuben Heaton have supported the World Carp Classic since its inception and are the official scales used for the event. As event organisers it has been essential to ensure that the most accurate scales are used. All fish caught during the event will be weighed using Reuben Heaton scales conforming to the strict procedure that will be consistently followed by all of the marshals. Reuben Heaton scales have been used to weigh several world record fish and anticipation is high this year that personal best World Carp Classic and possibly European/World record will be broken at the Orient this year. Global launches at the Ready There are several companies that will be having global product launches at the event this year. With the massive international field comprising of many high profile anglers and the on-site presence of international media this will provide a great platform for the product launches. News of the new products is certain to spread quickly especially if they are used by any of the competitors that successfully claim the World Carp Classic title or any of the other prizes. There will be plenty of time for competitors and event on-lookers to see these new products on Sunday the 10th of September in advance of the huge opening ceremony. Further information about the product launches will be available on the World Carp Classic website. Leon Hoogendijk will be on site to present the biggest fish trophy to the captor and there is plenty of speculation as to what the size of the fish will be. Leon has already caught the “Bulldozer” at 70lbs+ and with several other known fish well into the 70lbs+ range this prize could be record breaking. As well as the trophy there are a set of world class limited edition Orient rods that the biggest fish prize attracts. Angling Publications the publishers of International Carper, Carpworld and Crafty Carper magazine are very pleased to be sponsor and partner of the WWC. We see this event as one of the most important events in the carp angler’s year. It’s an event that will see the coming together of the biggest names in carp fishing from around the world, all competing for the biggest prize in carp fishing”. Asked about the event held at Lac D’Orient, Martin Ford commented: “It’s a water that’s right and fitting for an event of this stature. What more could the skilled international carper want, a water that could hold a world record carp, a water that is known to house some of the biggest documented carp in the world and a water to test the skills of the most hardened carp angler”. |
