The popular event, which was sold out more than two months ahead of its opening date, will now be known as the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic.
Tournament director Chris New explained: “The support we have received from Rod Hutchinson has been so extensive and beneficial to both parties that formal title sponsorship was the natural progression for the relationship.
“Since we signed our initial agreement, section sponsorship and entries have blossomed, to the extent that all sponsorship packages and competitor slots have been taken up. So it is an ideal time to cement our mutually beneficial relationship.
“We are delighted, therefore, to be able to confirm the event is now officially the 2004 Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic.”
Rod Hutchinson himself leads by example and the products that bear his name are a classic range of innovative rods, bivvies, chairs and a host of tackle-related accessories.
Rod said: “I was delighted when we were offered the opportunity to become formal title sponsor. I was initially very pleased to be able to put my name alongside that of this great event – and this is just the icing on the cake.
“The Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic is building a tremendous reputation. Any enduro fishing event which gives anglers so much lake time and the opportunity to catch fish for such great prizes is sure to be popular.
“The Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic brings together carp anglers from all over the world and I can’t wait to see our team battling it out alongside them.”
The ‘full house’ signs went up at the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic in early August.
More than 100 pairs of anglers will contest the £ 25,000 prize table at Lac Amance, in the Champagne region of France, in October – and one lucky duo will walk away with £ 10,000 in cash.
Now moving into its sixth year, the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic brings together carp anglers from all across the world to compete for a £ 10,000 first prize.
The 2004 Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic is a unique 66-hour enduro event fished over three nights with four rods per pair. In addition to the fishing, the Rod Hutchinson World Carp Classic has also made a name for itself with the famous pre-match barbecue and party – and 2004 will be no different.
For the second year running the event will have an official marshalling team from Sparsholt, in Hampshire, the specialist fishing college.
