COMPETITION CONCEPT
Who is it open to?
Men, women and juniors are eligible to compete with the aim of becoming the Worldwide Trout Open Champion of the year.

Entry fee: £ 60 per person. Anglers may enter more than one qualifying round if they wish subject to paying an additional entry fee and availability. The champion of the national event will represent their respective country in the Worldwide Trout Open Final in Ireland with travel and accommodation being provided on a complimentary basis in the magnificent 5 star Mount Juliet estate.

Who Qualifies for the Next Round?
This depends on how many qualification rounds there are per country.

COMPETITION FORMAT
Qualification Round
One day event with three sessions of 2 hour fishing.
Qualifying events can be held any time between the opening season in March and the 30th of June.
Catch and release event.
National rules to be applied along with WTO specific rules.
Each competitor attends the event bringing along a marshal.

National Final
One day event with three 2 hours fishing sessions.
To take place by the 31st of July 2000.
Catch and release event.
National rules to be applied along with WTO specific rules.
Each competitor attends the event bringing along a marshal.

Fly-tying Competition – Fly-casting Competition
(Subject to agreement between WAP and Cortland distributor)
On the day following the national competition.
Entry fee: £ 5 per person
Free for the national finalists, media, VIP, Cortland Pro shop, venue.
Prize table:the winner will receive a magnificent trophy and prizes.

Worldwide Trout Open Final
One day event with four 1 1/2hour sessions.
To be held in Mount Juliet, Ireland the 22nd – 24th of September 2000 on the private section of the river Nore.
Catch and release event.
WTO rules in accordance will apply.
Marshals provided locally and by conservation associations.
Marshal’s briefing will take place a week prior to the event.

Prize table:£ 30,000
ChampionTitle, exclusive Worldwide Trout Open masters jacket and £ 20,000 in prizes including a year’s unlimited fishing on the private section of the river Nore owned by Mount Juliet estate.

Cortland £ 15,000 Cash Bonus
Golden Trout £ 10,000 for the capture of a specially tagged golden trout if the fish is caught using a Cortland product: reel, rod or lazer line or a Diamondback rod.
Golden peg £ 5,000 golden peg awards if the overall winner last fished the peg that matches the peg number being predetermined and placed in a sealed envelope and of course using a Cortland product: reel, rod or lazer line or a Diamondback rod.
