YOUNG ANGLING WRITERS

Rather than run a competition for young angling writers I reckon it will be better if I give a small tackle item to every young writer who has an article published on this website and a larger bit of kit to the one I consider best each month.

So, if you’re under 16, send in those articles, preferably with a picture or two. Minimum 500 words, maximum of 1000 words.

Email them to me at editor@fishingmagic.com either as an email or as a text file attachment.

We’ll let it run for three months and see how it goes.

To kick off this young writers series here is a short article from Aran Searle who won the Angling Star competition.

Aran, not with a pike but a nice little carp he caught earlier this year

Me being me, that turned out to be nearer to 6 o’clock. We were going to go to Tyrham Hall fisheries, at Lindholme, near Doncaster. We have fished Tyrham loads of times and caught some cracking fish, including a 23lb carp out of the stock pond, plus my biggest ever tench at 4
