Who is Martin Gay when he is at home? Did you mean Marvin Gay and his song I heard it through the grapevine By any chance.

There was a thread on here by a guy who was defending the honour of Martin Gay, who was well known angler back in the day. The thread ran for ever, and then some. He claimed to have caught a very large carp in the UK and some people said it was caught in Canada.

It wasn’t “I heard it through the grapevine.” But by the time it finished I couldn’t help wondering “What’s going on.” and saying “Mercy Mercy Me.”

Re the Carsington Water roach. It was a fly angler that caught it. Carsington being a big trout water in the North Midlands. I think from memory there was some sort of cockup in the weighing paperwork and the guy I believe didn't make a full claim.
