Graham use your head man!!

Put it on for free for a trial period - then take it off saying it was not viable to run - BUT members can pay a fee for it - those who liked it will pay and so begins another chapter in GM world domination of wealth.

If you do adopt this idea the fee is £100 - same as all the ideas I give you.

Well let me tell you this!

I dont want Granville Marsdin GAWPING over my shoulder whilst I am visiting an artistic site full of naked Russian "farmer girl" types I can tell you!

Some people just get more nosey as they get older, keep you nose out of my business or else I will come down there and pour the contents of a potty over your head!

I bet the net curtains are always twitching in your house Mr Marsddern....you strike me as the kind of person who would hide a surveillance camera in a picture to see if the grand children were nicking the caramel and hazelnut chocolate covered treat from your box of quality street.

I say no to online gestapo spies!

Keep it to yourself Graham, that way it wont be used as a league, cos you know what will happen, I got more points than you, no you have'nt, that artical is a year old etc, etc.

If it helps you to improve the site it has to be worth while.

This is turning into a "do we want a close season" type discussion. Steve will update the thread with a vote total soon and we will find that it's a tie /forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif.

Graham, it sounds like a useful tool for an administrator, otherwise it sounds like a real pain in the backside for the members and will most definitely start a "my thread is better than your thread" dispute.

11 for and 10 against.

So not much in it. I'll make it available, temporarily at least, and then you'll all know exactly what we're discussing.

For those who are against showing their stats on the forum it will make no difference as the forum stats won't show on the table.

If anyone wants to opt out of theActivity Table just let me know.

So, as we always try to do on FM, those for it can be in it and those against it can be out of it.

Can't be fairer than that, surely?

Let's just keep it fairly low key for now though by giving access to it by this link only. If it catches on (or at least doesn't upset too many) I'll make it more accessible.

Having looked at the table it looks pretty good.

On the one hand it may be used for a bit of competitive banter at times, but that happens with the forum post counts any way.

On the other hand, it may encourage some members to get more involved and contribute more to the site. eg I've a number of articles up my sleeve but spend the time writing rubbish on the forum instead of finishing them!

Can it be re jigged with a search as a way of finding a members profile? I know this can be done, but it's a bit burried in the layers of FM.

eg if I want to send a pm to someone currently I have to find one of their forum postings and then go to their profile from it. I could go via the member search in local info, but it's a bit embedded.

Hope that lot makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback Matt, the trekkies will take note. Already from this thread they're looking at the possibility of an 'online' indicator.

On seeing it Graham, I have revised my opinion of it.Fine by me.

Do you get points for organising fish-ins? /forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif(See, I'm being competative already!)

If I could give points for organising a fish-in then I definitely would!

The thing is, I can adjust the points for each activity very easily and I probably will as I get used to using it. I can weight it in any way that suits what I want the table to tell me. Right now it's quite heavily weighted towards article contributors.
