I have a 12ft Greys Prodigy Multi-tip rod that came with two ‘Avon type’ tip sections of 1¼lb and 2lb test curves; and both tips get used fairly often.
I use the lighter 1¼lb tc section when touch legering for Chub; however it’s a bit under gunned for Barbel; and I use the 2lb tc tip section for both floating crust and also for barbel when the water on my smaller rivers is in flood conditions.

I think that both of the different tip sections pair nicely with the base section.

I also have a 12ft 1.5lb tc Greys Prodigy Barbel rod for low water conditions and a 12ft 1.7lb Greys Prodigy Barbel rod for normal water conditions; and both come with Avon type tip sections and Quiver tip sections.

I agree with Kev in that many twin tip rods greatly favour one of the two options. I can only remember fishing with the Avon section of my Shimano Purist Quiver / Avon rod once. Same with the lighter Alivio Quiver / Avon and the Youngs Barbel Quiver / Avon. I only use them with the quiver option. However, the Greys VX Twin Tip 1.25lb & 1.75lb rod bucks the trend in that both top sections perfectly compliment the butt section.

P.s. I have the Greys 1.75lb Barbel Quiver / Avon, but haven't used the Avon section yet. I could only see myself putting that on if the river was pulling too strongly for the heaviest quiver tip and I hadn't got a more suitable rod with me.
