Last Saturday we returned to the lovely Jacobean lodge at Blagdon Fishing Lodge for our second Valuation Day at this location. Despite the weather being awful, the day was not a wash out! In fact, it was a fantastic day and probably our best yet!

We were busy from well before our official start time, so it was a good job we arrived early and were all set up and ready to go!

We had a little helper with us on the day, our eldest son William, who thoroughly enjoyed being part of the day, making teas and coffees and helping to carry in/out all the tackle in the rain! He also enjoyed all the biscuits and sausage rolls etc bought to keep him fuelled for the day!

We met lots of our lovely customers, old and new, and purchased some fantastic stock for you all to see and buy! Lot’s of Hardy purchases; around 25 Hardy rods and 20 Hardy reels, and a variety of Orvis, Sage and Guideline rods in original cordura or alloy tubes.

Here are a few of our favourites!

Already sold, we had this fantastic, 9ft Hardy Phantom fly rod. We have had a few in stock previously, but the condition of this one was spot on! These rods were introduced as a replacement for the Hardy C.C. de France range and were available up until 1962.

Saying that, we also purchased a rare Hardy CC de France Palakona 8ft three piece (plus spare tip) split cane bamboo fly rod built in 1958, rod number H14915. With bronze close whippings and clear agate butt and tip guides. Bronze ferrule 10” cork handle, light alloy reel fittings. This is a fabulous rod, rarely seen in this 8ft length. Will suit line #4.

Again, sold already, we purchased a rare and mint version of the Hardy Perfect in 2 5/8” trout size and in left hand wind, we are not surprised that this went quickly!

We had lots of other accessories such as bags, clothing and fly boxes and tins, including these lovely Richard Wheatley wooden fly boxes, with a selection of large and small trout flies.

Keep an eye on our website, as there will be all this and more on there soon! We have had a few exciting collections recently, so please check daily for the new stock, there is plenty to come!!

Our next Valuation Day is at Sportfish, Reading on Saturday 14th October. As always, no appointment is necessary, but it is advisable to contact us first to check that what you have is something we would be interested in buying. We buy top quality game, coarse and sea fishing tackle from makers such as Hardy, Allcock, Abel, Loop, Orvis, Sage, Guideline to name a few. We ask that rod parts are of equal length and haven’t been shortened or repaired, and that everything is in working order (unless a rare collectable item).

Please get in touch if you have any questions!
