Yes! it's that time of year when our attention turns to big predatory fish. BPC this year will be the 11th annual challenge in the series.
Please report on this thread your big perch caught WITHIN the TIMESCALE BELOW. Please also try to take a photo of your catch even if you're unable to post pics, as I or another can help with that. A description of your method and the type of water where your perch was caught would also add interest.

The record for this challenge is 4:11:8 caught by Chubberbob a few years ago.
The U.K. record is 6lb:5oz!

RULES. Challenge starts midnight 31st August 2022

Any legal method. Bait, lure, rod, pole or whip.

To claim you must have made at least 10 previous posts (any subject) on FM..

Challenge ends midnight March 14th 2023

Finally-Please keep this thread chat free as it makes my job much easier if I don't have to wade through pages of chat trying to put the final table together..
If you want to chat about perch, or anything else, please start your own new thread.....Thanks and good luck....

I've not had a big perch for a number of years. That changed yesterday, two fish in three trots, on double maggot under a peacock insert waggler.

2lbs 09oz and 3lbs 01oz

From the tidal Dorset Stour.

I propose three things for this thread...

1) That the entries remain numerous

2) That someone does a final tally up and announces the results on behalf of Simon

3) That someone takes over the administration of the thread for next year's challenge and, in honour and ongoing memory of Simon himself, names it the 'Peter Crabtree BIG PERCH Challenge XII' and so on, on an ongoing basis

All those in favour say aye...

Good idea ....as an aside we are also missing someone on the HDYGO thread to say "keep this thread to catch reports and start another thread for general chit chat"... thats one of the reasons that thread kept going so long as it didnt become watered down after going off on tangents.

...I propose we can all do our bit there by giving out a general reminder from time to time...

Late to the party but the Ayes have it!

Sadly, I have hardly been among the Perch at all and with work constraints won't this side of Christmas ☹
