I've taken up Steve's challenge for the smallest tinca - caught tight to the reeds while crucian fishing yesterday. I think you've just edged it Binks but it's early days.........................:)

Well, I've not posted any fishing 'results' for a while and.........

I'm not going to now either. I joined a club that was supposed to be good tench fishing, countless trips between me and a mate and lots of hours have resulted in not a single bite. Having walked and talked the banks it seems the lake doesn't live up to its reputation.

I'm still up for the tench challenge though. For my birthday at the end of this month myself and several friends are doing 3 days on horcott lake in fairford. Pretty prolific tench water, it's used a lot by the tench fishers so watch this space.

Right Binks, this is serious angling - beat that...................:D

It's a good benchmark Jerry, this could take some doing :D

I have a session or two planned for next week where it could just happen, watch this space...

Half a squat, Binks? Making the most of that gym membership?? :)

I'd be pleased with that considering what my back is like at the moment mate :(

Eh don't say owt Phil, but I reckon Jerry's been putting a nut of groundbait in a submerged landing net and scooping 'em out  ;) :D

First of the season, from last Saturday. Thought I would share. 3lb 4 on hair rigged sweet corn and a block feeder of red maggot. Lake was very weedy; at first I thought he was just a snag.

He's an Arsenal fan, mate - he's not going to have any experience of putting anything in the back of any net....:)

Obviously picking up bad habits since moving. Heavens to Murgatroyd, Cheatin Even....:)

I reckon the Tench of the Year Competition might need a Father Ted style inquisition at the end of it.....:)

Well, had a little session this afternoon on the same venue as my last tench catch. Had a brilliant time to be honest. Caught probably 50 roach and perch upto half a lb. Also 3 tench as the light started to fade.

First was smaller at 3-4lb (I didn't weigh it)

Second was a bit bigger by maybe half a pound (again didn't weigh that one)

Last one was my pb tench!

Weighed in at 7lb 3oz.

All caught on the method, about a rod length out. Strawberry and hemp groundbait, hemp and 2mm pellets. Hookbait was corn.

Right Binks, it may have taken another couple of weeks but skill is undoubtedly shining through - take that..............;)

PS Look at the size of his pecs, that's going to be some chunky tinca in years to come.............

Where can I get my hands on one of those extra small disgorgers Jerry... And don't say the same place I got my forceps :D

I bet that fish was a good three ounces really... If not more! ;) :D

Nice tench Nicky. The start date of this challenge was midnight 16th March 2016 as stated in my opening post. It ends on 31st of August 2016.
Can you confirm this fish was caught within the dates above as your photobucket pictures may suggest an earlier date?
Sorry to be picky....

There you go Binks, caught today among the crues - probably my last try unless the competition improves.;)

As I haven't fished for the other end of the challenge since late March I think I'll devote a bit of time there after the holiday..............
