I've been enjoying myself too much on the local farm/woodland ponds but hope to get a session in on one of the big pits the week after next before the river season opens - it'll either probably be a blank or possibly a decent fish......:)

Its not good tench envy...gets you doing all sorts of strange things. At the weekend I ended up carp fishing for two nights in the hope that I will actually catch a big tench. needless to say it didn't work.

However on the last morning I decided to set a mini method feeder up to catch a few of the bream that been playing with my bobbins....guess what caught a 5lb tench. :eek:mg:

Method feeders work well for tench but so does groundbait feeders . Micro pellet / groundbait in my experience attracts tench and bream even though I don't want to fish for bream it can't be helped as both have the liking for pellets and groundbait but then you may hook into a carp too .

Mike,

You're going to end up talking to yourself, drinking outta paper bags and searching for hairs on yet palms.

Take it easy, fella - as Phil Collins should have sung......you can't hurry....tench

Wow what a fish! Was just reading about a pal of mine (Nate Green) having just won this months Drennan Cup with a tench of "just" 10lb 12ozs. A Kent angler like yourself, is the venue you caught your monster to remain undisclosed?

Well, that's the end of this years contest, then................At least it will save me going out to buy unnecessary bait in an attempt to lure an Autumn biggie (As Peter Stone once said..)

Well done that man!!

s63............I think you missed off the dozen winky smilies, that should've followed your last sentence!! (Kent - the home of big tench - forever!)

ps I wondering how old a fish of that size might be..

.

Yep, some huge tench coming out of Kent waters recently, many from MKF's Larkfield complex.
