Fred, if you can find one have a look at the Maver reactolite 15/18ft. I thinkIt feels a bit better than the preston at17ft. Just as soft in the tip but not as sloppy in the middle.

Currentlyin the menders, after a session on Trent, I snapped the top section!

Are you lads talking about the Middy Multi-Length Match/Margin Animal Rod that can be fished at 14', 16' or 18'? Is it any good? Only I'm on the verge of buying one.

I had a milo bolo rod for a couple of years and used it on the Bristol Avon a lot. I found it tiring to fish with but using the proper floats (8-10gramme plus) with an olivette well down the line just over the hook length I found I could acheive some incredible presentation with it in deep swims.

I dont ever remember getting line stick but then you wouldnt with beasty floats like that.

I wouldnt contemplate using one for still water work though. Far to cumbersome and way to many better rods for that job.
