On This Day I Used FishBites E-Z Flea After Jigging w/no Strikes!

I contacted the great folks over at FishBites in FL & wanted to know if they wanted me to try their products in Hawaii. A week latter i received a package of mixed bags of these artificial strips of fish attractants. My thoughts as i shoreline jigger was in-between jigging during slack tides was to toss a baited line out.

But i try to travel light. A small backpack & a jigging rod & reel. This way i can cover large areas and always be moving around. The first time i tried these was for only less than 2hrs on the backside of a high tide in extremely muddy waters. Today it was dirty during a minus tide but clear enough for a visual presentation.

In 5min i hooked a Blacktail Snapper which i released. Yeah, it's an invasive species but i don't kill fish that i don't eat. 2nd strike was a screamer that lasted maybe 20sec. Most likely a Milkfish from what i glimpsed. Last strike was a minute after as i threw the rig back in the same spot. It shows that these artificial baits do work! I still don't need to bring a cooler. Success!

Also my 2 new Mustad Rods from Mustad RodWorks were blessed as they're not going to be released until latter this year. And my 2 new 4K & 5K spinning reels from Olympus SRL in Italy saw action also on their first day in Hawaii as well. And most importantly we now see that FishBites do work in Hawaii. A first from what the people at FishBites tell me as we don't know anyone locally here using their products & no local stores stocks them. They should after this field test. Beats running around with a hand net trying to scoop bait to lugging around a cooler.
