Frank raised the question as to the relevance of measuring fish.
Our European Cousins assess fish by length and would question why we bother weighing them.
We use weight as a measure of the size of fish and they use length. In fact using both is a much better indicator.
In my opinion it is worth regularly checking weight to length and girth because poor length to girth and poor weight to length/girth are indicators of problems with fish.
