I'm not sure if Barneys is offering an invitation for a beer or is it a proposition.....

Barney and the Gay Emblem sharing a cabin and wanting me to join them.......

What beer was it again?

I visited a tackle store + garden center not far from stone (you can figure out which one) needless to say the "staff" (more like YTS) didn't have much training in the customer relations deparment.

The way one of them looked at Dian (my wife) when she asked questions about some of the tackle was unbelievable (it was the what do women know about fishing look) fortunetly for him i had my 2 year old daughter with me (who also go's fishing) i have a slight temper problem :)

I would recommend "ne last cast" in stfford to anyone its mainly a carp/preditor shop but Martin the owner is the type of bloke who will tell you the truth & not make it up as he go's along.

ps when i fished yateley i was on the sandhurst lake at the opposite end of the comlex to where Rik was fishing n i could hear his bite alarms (& his belly rumbling when he got hungry, which was every 20mins or so) :)

Graham,
the problem you have had is the same as i have experienced with a certain superstore in Wigan. After a recent loss of tackle due to a flood in the cellar i had ?2500 to spend in this particular shop (no choice as insurance company insisted) After purchasing several items on the day there were still some items that had to be ordered.

Firstly, a leeda Giant coat - promised next day delivery, after 4 weeks of daily phone calls had to take another jacket.

Secondly, Kevin Nash Sticks - again daily phone calls finally received them 12 weeks after ordering them.

Quite clearly this is not what we want especially as I had spent ?2500. I bet the situation would have been different if I had gone into the shop with a fist full of used notes, and not a credit note from the insurance co which could only have been used at this shop..

This surely should win the Crap Shop of the century award.

What do you think?

As I understand it the insurance company can't legally insist on you buying from a nominated shop. A friend of mine had this problem and challenged the company, threatening to expose the practice in the press and report them to the Office of Fair Trading. The insurers promply backed down!

Having worked in the motor trade, I know that insurance companies try to impose their will on individuals and insist that they visit nominated outlets.
As Steve points out, this is illegal and you can demand where you would like to go.

Brad,

I know the store you mean. It's quite local to me, but neither I nor any of my mates use it. The staff are ignorant, rude and unhelpfull and this isn't just my opinion everyone I have spoken to has experienced the same. Anything you ask for that they don't have is ''due in tomorrow mate'' - absolute bollox !

I could give you a huge list of instances why they are a waste of time but I won't waste my time bothering.

If I were you i would go to Trafford Angling or Dave's of Middlewhich - both superstores who are very helpful and have a good stock of gear.

Cheers

Gary
