I asked Santa for one of these and he obliged. His agent, my OH, sourced the reel online of course and thinks it came from Holland .
The reel is utterly perfect to use with light braid and micro lures and has accounted for a decent number of perch on its two outings.
But here's the thing. I'm using 10lb braid at present as winter is more about drop shot than jigs, so I'm using lead of up to 5g and casting a fair way sometimes. But in summer it's jigs (which I can fish faster , at any point in water column and in very shallow water). I'll be using jigs down to 0.2 g and will use lighter braid - some sexy looking 5lb stuff in Barbie pink .
So I need a spare spool, and quickly discover that the exact model of reel was never sold here , although similar ones were . I found a spool online from a very helpful firm in Romania but they warned that Brexit etc meant it was fiddly and pricey.
So I contacted Daiwa and they get five stars from me . They established that their Swedish outlet didn't have any spools in stock (the reel having been sold in Sweden originally ) but sourced some from their Japanese HQ which are now en route . For £20 each which in the circumstances I think is good value and great service
